" I Don't Like My Talking"

On our trip to WY this last week, we were going up a pass and Hallie started talking about the way she was talking and that she didn't like it. We were kind of confused for a minute. Then we started down and she said " There....do I sound better?" We realized that she was talking about her ears being plugged..... Back track. Hallie has had tubes in her ears since she was a year old so she has never had to deal with and feel what plugged ears feel like! It was a totally new experience for her. She had an appointment to get her ears checked a couple of days after our trip and I was totally expecting him to tell me that they were out, but they aren't yet. He did say that they are starting to move out and that is probably why they were plugging. It was so cute how she described it.....not liking her talking.

Also on that trip we were so lucky to have a DVD player and Baby Mozart. Dane LOVED watching it and I want to invest in more of the Baby Enstien movies. I got this one for Dane's baby shower. He was so cute watching them too.....he would get so excited and start kicking his legs and waving his arms. He is all boy. He loves loud machines like the rotatiller for instance. We'll go out and watch Jake work on the yard with it and he gets so excited. Just a fun little man!

Today Alyssa and Hallie were playing on our pile of rock in our front yard.....that needs moved to the back yard.....and Lyss was being super bossy to Hallie (like always) and I told her that they could both just do what they wanted and there didn't have to be so many rules. Alyssa says, " But I like rules mom!" She is a very structured girl. SHe later told me that there are rules for everything. I'm not sure where she gets that from???!!!!

Ohio

The other day Alyssa was reading me  "Johnny Appleseed" and it kept talking about him walking along the Ohio. So about the third time she read this, I asked her if she knew what the Ohio was. She looked at me and said, " It's a river." I have to admit I was slightly taken back that she knew what they were talking about. I asked her if she just knew that or if she had looked at the picture. Her response, " Well since I'm only 5 and just in Kindergarten, I looked at the picture." It was so funny I busted up laughing. She said it so matter- of -factly and like it was the silliest question in the world.....which it probably was!

She is just amazing! She wants to learn so much. We just went on a trip to Wyoming and some of her favorite entertainment was me giving her addition or subtraction or MULTIPLICATION problems and also me giving her the letters to words and she would figure out what the spell. It is so much fun to see her progress!
