A Summer To Remember

Where to begin...oh yea... how about June 1st at around 3 in the morning. Jake was having some stomache pains but not too bad. So he went to work that morning, but by the time he came home for lunch her was in so much pain he just had to lay on the floor. So we took him into the Dr. and he was sure that he needed his appendix out. BUt with all the pushing on his stomache, it totally stopped hurting. So we figured it was gas or something and the Dr. had just broken it up. He went and got a CT anyway and turns out his appendix did need out. So at 6:30 that night he was in having it out. He was expected to come home that night. But as night wore on and he couldn't get up without his blood pressure dropping he ended up staying the night. I came home at 12:30. At 3:30 that morning they ended up putting him in ICU, so at 4:30 I went back to the hospital. By noon on the second Jake was the color of the white pillow he was laying on (When I think about how he looked laying there it actually makes me sick....hauntingly white.) and blood pressure kept dropping even when he was laying down, and his stomache was absolutely killing him. The nurse came in and lifted up his gown to look at his stomache and from across the room I could see that it was bloated and when she pushed on it I could tell it was hard. She went out and started making phone calls and the Dr. was there in about 10 min and they were taking him back into surgery. He had started bleeding internally. When the Dr. was taking out his appendix, it had grown into some scar tissue from a hernia surgery when he was little so he had to pull it out of it. The dr figured that the little he roughed it up and a pain killer called Toredol, which can cause intestinal bleeding, he started bleeding. He had lost about 2 1/2 liters of blood.....almost half of his blood. TheDr said this was the first time he had ever had any kind of complication during an appendectomy. He had 4 bags of blood put in him. Anyway......A little stressful????? And I was a week and a half from my due date. Jake's mom and sister Sally came out to help. Thank you!!
So Then the next Thursday I was induced and we welcomed Mr. Dane Jacob to the family! During my labor, the Dr. checked me and got this funny look on his face and said "THats a hand...and an arm." So he had to shove it back up.Then I had to sit up as straight as I could so that hopefully his head would move down. The Dr. said that was a first for him to feel a hand! Too many not so good firsts within a week!!! BUt Dane did cooperate and got his head where it was supposed to be, just facing the wrong way. I got an epidural, but I could feel the contractions. Luckily I couldn't feel the pushing part! He was born at 1:55 P.M and weighed 8lb 5oz and was 22 in long....although when we took him to his well baby check he was only 21. But on all the hospital papers it says 22.

My mom was able to come out for a week which was so nice! Today is our first day of trying out real life! So far Dane has been fairly lay back and sweet. He wants to eat ALL the time. BUt no matter how easy a newborn is, newborns are alot of work! I had forgotten. He does pretty good at night....wakes up 2 or 3 times. He loves to sleep with me but if he is in a deep enough sleep he will lay in his bed. THe girls love him and are big helpers with getting stuff for me. Hallie has been a little extra naughty but thats to be expected. Well thats alot of words so here are a few pics!
